What was new in week 4? Lots about the letter Dd!

Dinosaurs

Well, to start with we had a humongous visitor....

Lucky for us he was a plant eater so we didn't need to be too worried!
We watched videos to find out about different types of dinosaurs. Then we had a lucky dip to choose our own dinosaur. We practised telling each other dinosaur facts about our dinosaurs then wrote stories.

Mrs Ward had a yummy surprise for us when we had finished our writing.
Story by Max.

Developmental

Who are these gorgeous girls?
We had great fun dressing up during developmental on Friday.
... and it was just as much fun outside with bubbles, balls and kites!

Science: Mixing Dye

We had fun creating new colours with our dye mixing experiments - we all had turns taking the photos for our movie and science experiment book.

Drums

We went to visit Cam the drum teacher. He showed us how to play the drums. We recorded the music so we could see how loud the music was with the decibel counter on the ipad.
Lily, Demi and Max tried out their drumming skills.

D posters

We used our co-operative skills to make Dd posters in groups.
Take a look at them and our dinosaur pictures

Buddy Class

This year Room 6 is our buddy class. On Friday we went to Room 6 to meet our buddies. They helped us make our ant and grasshopper hats for our class play.
Thank you buddies, our hats look fantastic!

Outside Maths

We are counting footsteps. How many wet footsteps can we count before they disappear?

Next we found our way through a maze without walking through any 'walls'. Then we went inside and found our way from the capital 'A' to the small 'a'.

Chinese New Year

It is a special time for our Chinese families. We drew lanterns, fireworks and dragons on the whiteboard. Happy New Year!

Week 3 antics

A for ants, alligators and apples.

Ten Apples up on top

We read a story called 'Ten Apples up on Top'.Wow that is tricky! We can only balance one apple on top.

Apple machine

Mrs Koster brought her special machine to school. It can peel, core and cut apples at the same time!

We ate apple with our fruit break - Yum!

Team Work

We found out that ants work as a team. We had to work together to move our blocks across the classroom and back into the yellow box. Lukas thought of a good way for us to work together to tidy the blocks. He put us all in a line and we passed the blocks to each other.

Job done!

Library

We also went to the library for the very first time.  We go to the library every Monday so we will need to remember to bring our library bags back at the beginning of the week so we can get new books when we go.

Our library visit from lining up ready to leave to lining up to go back to class and everything in between.

Developmental

Great fun at developmental with the rest of Team Waka.
Outside we had sandpit play, water with bubbles and stilt walking. Inside was the construction zone! See us having fun, working with others, problem solving and taking turns.

O Week

We have been learning about the letter O. We have watched videos about an octopus and baby owls, listened to and written stories, learned about opposites, matched owl pictures, and made O dot to dots and posters. Phew, what a busy week!

We also made a mystery picture on the white boards. We followed the instructions on the video and made........
an octopus. Then we watched a movie about a real octopus in the ocean so we could write stories.
